Well it is exactly 2 years since we were going through Hurricane Irma in St Thomas, USVI.
Hurricane Irma was a Category 5 Hurricane with 185 MPH winds with gusts up to 225 MPH.
The reason this hurts my heart is that this is just what happened to the Bahamas! Almost 2 years to the exact date. The Bahamas was hit with 185 MPH winds with gusts up to 225 MPH. The difference is that they are pretty much flat land and I was 125 feet+ higher on a cliff. During the Hurricane, people were swept away with the storm surge, to never be seen again (I’m holding away tears right now). Watching the news today and seeing a man on his knees next to the home where his family of 8 was flattened out and not knowing if they were even alive…wow, that will tear your heart out! I have no words.
This is a day I will always remember and what I take from it is: Appreciate your friends, family and loved ones and give them hugs and kisses or at least a call or text, because you never know what is going to happen or when it is your last day.
The Bahamians are in Tremendous Need and if you can help, please do! I donated to the link below:
